The Betty Houchin Winfield
Political Communication and Mass Media Collection

When Betty Houchin Winfield, PhD, a specialist in political communication and mass media history, retired in 2011, she entrusted her life’s collection of books and videos to the safekeeping of the Frank Lee Martin Journalism Library at the University of Missouri.  Students and scholars across many disciplines benefit from this amazing collection, which is deep in areas of political communication and mass media history and broad in the wide range of topics, she collected.

In addition to the books she collected, the Journalism Library holds copies of each of the books she authored:  FDR and the News Media, Bleep! Censoring Rock and Rap, The Edward R. Murrow Heritage:  Challenge for the Future and Journalism -1908:  Birth of a Profession.
