Off Campus MU Proxy

Using the MU Libraries’ Proxy Server

To use the proxy server, you will need your Username (myZou username and password).

Your browser needs to accept cookies.

You do not need to do anything special to use the proxy server. Our system will automatically detect if you are coming from off-campus and will direct you to the proxy server if you need to use it to access a resource. Just search for articles, databases , or use Discover@MU just as you would if you were on-campus.

Problems Using the Proxy Server

If you have problems accessing the proxy server, please follow these steps to eliminate the problem:

  1. Check to see if your web browser is set to accept cookies.  You will need to have cookies turned on.
  2. If you have a firewall installed, we suggest that you download the VPN and install it for use rather than using the proxy server.
  3. If you use NetZero Hi Speed as your Internet Service Provider, you will need to turn off the Hi Speed option in order to access via the proxy server.  NetZero Hi Speed blocks access to the proxy server.
  4. If you use PeoplePC as your Internet Service Provider, you may have difficulties accessing some resources.  You will need to turn off the proxy setting in your web browser in order to access all the resources.
