Find Textbooks

Mizzou Libraries do not automatically purchase textbooks used in classes, however, some textbooks may be available through the Libraries.

  • Check with your instructor or use the Mizzou Store site to determine the exact title and edition of the textbook needed for a specific course.
  • Check to see if the textbook is available through Mizzou Libraries’ Course Reserves, either online (E-Reserves) or print (Physical Reserves).
  • Search Discover@MU to determine if the textbook is available from Mizzou Libraries. You can also search MOBIUS to see if the book is available from another library in Missouri. Directions for requesting books in MOBIUS.
  • Check the guide Health Sciences Textbooks.
  • Ask your course instructor to request that the Libraries purchase the book. (Note: Textbooks are not always available for purchase by libraries due to cost or publisher restrictions).

  • interlibrary loan (ILL@MU)
    • Mizzou Libraries cannot borrow current textbooks from libraries outside of Missouri
    • Most libraries do NOT loan current textbooks through interlibrary loan.
    • The loan period for an interlibrary loan book is normally two weeks to one month
  • Open access textbooks sites (freely available online textbooks)
