Narrow Searches

There are many ways to narrow a search in a database. First, find the ADVANCED SEARCH page.

1. Chain together keywords using the boolean AND operator.
    e.g. saturn and car

2. Use a phrase search to find words in order.
    e.g. “declaration of independence”

3. Resrict your search to the title field.   

4. Restrict your search to the subject field.

5. Throw out irrelevant citations with the boolean NOT operator.
    e.g. saturn not car

6. Limit by publication date.

7. Limit by Scholarly/Peer Reviewed article in Academic Search Premier and Summon.
