Message From the Vice Provost

Dear University of Missouri Students, Faculty, and Staff,
Welcome to a new academic year at Mizzou! The start of the fall semester is always an exciting time, and at Mizzou Libraries, we are proud to be the scholarly home for our entire campus community. Whether you’re beginning your first semester or returning to continue your journey, our libraries are here to support your success.
Across our seven library locations, you’ll find a variety of study spaces designed to meet your needs – from quiet corners for focused work to collaborative areas for group projects. Ellis Library remains open 24/5 to ensure you have access when you need it most.
This fall, we’re thrilled to introduce the Writing & Research Hub in 115 Ellis Library. This new space brings together our Research and Information Services librarians and the MIzzou Writing Center’s tutors to provide integrated support for your research and writing projects – all in one convenient location.
At Mizzou Libraries, we care about the whole student. Explore our Wellbeing Book Collection on the first floor of Ellis Library or browse our Leisure Reading Collections at the Lottes Health Sciences Library and the Engineering Library. And don’t miss our popular destressing events like Calming Crafternoons and BYOBook Club – perfect opportunities to recharge during a busy semester.
For our researchers, we continue to strengthen the University’s research mission through robust collections, our MoSpace repository, expert subject specialists, research data services, and an expanding number of open access publishing agreements.
Thank you for making Mizzou Libraries part of your academic journey. We look forward to supporting your learning, research and well-being throughout the semester.
Warm Regards,
Kara Whatley
Vice Provost for University Libraries
