The Lost Cause was the Confederates final stand that extended even after the Civil War with glorified ideologies to reconstruct the Johnny Reb army. The Lost Cause extended all the previous ideals with similar religious justifications.

Important Confederate leaders passed on this information to others through conventions and literature (note, literature in the South tried to counteract famous abolitionists books such as Harriet Beecher Stowes Uncle Tom's Cabin, however, the South was not exposed to mass production of books and the there weren't many writers to help officially 'light a fire from the spark'
