{"id":8783,"date":"2015-05-08T19:49:56","date_gmt":"2015-05-08T19:49:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/library.missouri.edu\/newsnotes\/?p=8783"},"modified":"2015-05-08T20:29:25","modified_gmt":"2015-05-08T20:29:25","slug":"student-fee-working-group-42915","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/library.missouri.edu\/newsnotes\/2015\/05\/08\/student-fee-working-group-42915\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Fee Working Group 4\/29\/15"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\">\n\tAttending: Shannon Cary, Deb Ward, Nancy Messina, Cindy Cotner, Edward McCain, Nav Khanal, Bryce McDonald, Brian Cain, Isa Dasho, Kat Stone, Matt Gaunt, Mark Ellis, Ann Riley, Freddy Martinez-Garcia, Judy Maseles, Jeannette Pierce.\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\tMSA Forum Promotion &ndash; Tables were set up in Speaker Circle to promote MSA Forum and get likes on Facebook\/Tweets (Dates were 4\/22,4\/23)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\tPositives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tThe events were fun and Library participants were impressed with how many students knew about the fee and were generally positive about it.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tFood was perfect in amounts and timing (ran out of food just as time was up).\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tThe event was a definite success in growing our social media contacts\/likes\/followers.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tA significant increase in social media activity related to our pages happened those days.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\tUnknowns:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tIt is not certain what impact the events had on the attendance of the forum.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\tNegatives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tA few awkward moments from students who wanted the food but did not to like the Library on Facebook or tweet about the library.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tA few isolated comments\/concerned expressions when first hearing about a potential fee.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\tMSA Forum- &#8211; Thursday, April 23<sup>rd<\/sup>, 7-8:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\tSeventy-one attendees by the Pride&rsquo;s count<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tWhich included members of the Pride.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\tPositives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tMatt felt there was a higher level of commitment on the part of the MSA because of the event.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tManeater article about forum was positive.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\tNegative:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tKevin from Security overheard (as leaving) students upset about why the improvements to the Library have to come from a student fee.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWhich Matt thinks is a legitimate&nbsp; questions that we will hear often going forward and is technically for the chancellor to answer.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\tThe referendum language was approved.\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tSurvey update &ndash; Nav Khanal.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\tNav put the results up on the overhead to review some highlights.\n\t\t\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\tAfter discussion Matt G asked the survey subcommittee to continue to meet and possibly pull together a survey to administer in the fall.&nbsp;\n\t\t\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tGPC forum- update:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\tMonday May 4<sup>th<\/sup>, 6 p.m.\n\t\t\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\tAt Leadership Auditorium.\n\t\t\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tTwo students from the creative portfolio class to whom Matt presented the student fee idea as a class assignment were hired by MU Libraries to help with the campaign.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\tPriorities will be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tIdentify brand identity.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tCreate a Summer Welcome magazine ad.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tCreate general circulation flyers.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tHelp with website presence.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\tLibrary Ambassadors update:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\tLast meeting today (4\/29\/15) at 5 p.m.\n\t\t\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\t5<sup>th<\/sup> or 6<sup>th<\/sup> meeting this semester\n\t\t\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t\t\tThere was some real progress made this year in growth and development.\n\t\t\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Attending: Shannon Cary, Deb Ward, Nancy Messina, Cindy Cotner, Edward McCain, Nav Khanal, Bryce McDonald, Brian Cain, Isa Dasho, Kat Stone, Matt Gaunt, Mark Ellis, Ann Riley, Freddy Martinez-Garcia, Judy Maseles, Jeannette Pierce.
