{"id":8212,"date":"2014-10-17T14:26:49","date_gmt":"2014-10-17T14:26:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/library.missouri.edu\/newsnotes\/?p=8212"},"modified":"2014-10-17T14:26:49","modified_gmt":"2014-10-17T14:26:49","slug":"special-collections-outreach-and-instruction-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/library.missouri.edu\/newsnotes\/2014\/10\/17\/special-collections-outreach-and-instruction-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Special Collections Outreach and Instruction Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\tIt&rsquo;s been a while since we submitted anything to the News Notes, but that&rsquo;s because things have been hopping up here on 4 West!&nbsp; Here&rsquo;s what the three of us have been up to since the semester started:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Taught 30 classes in the reading room for over 440 students\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Hosted a field trip and made presentations for fifty 5<sup>th<\/sup>-grade social studies students from Grant Elementary School\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Mounted the &ldquo;Books with Personality&rdquo; exhibit in the Ellis Library colonnade\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Led a workshop for MU faculty and graduate students as part of the Fridays @ the Library series\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Presented a workshop on National History Day resources for middle school and high school educators, in collaboration with the State Historical Society\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Represented the Libraries on National Museum Day at Mizzou North by doing presentations and leading art activities on medieval manuscript production for kids and parents\n\t<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Hosted a drop-in mini-exhibit on banned comics and graphic novels on the first floor of Ellis Library for Banned Books Week\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\tBegan participation in an inter-campus research project with UMKC &ndash; see our separate announcement for more details.\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n\tAnd we&rsquo;re still keeping up with our social media outreach.
