{"id":6394,"date":"2013-06-21T09:25:09","date_gmt":"2013-06-21T15:25:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mulibraries.missouri.edu\/newsnotes\/?p=6394"},"modified":"2013-06-21T09:25:09","modified_gmt":"2013-06-21T15:25:09","slug":"diversity-luncheon-july-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/library.missouri.edu\/newsnotes\/2013\/06\/21\/diversity-luncheon-july-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Diversity Luncheon, July 10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When will it be held?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> July 10 from 11:30 a.m. \u2013 1:00 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Where will the luncheon take place?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In the Ellis Library Staff Lounge.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Who is providing the food?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> You, if you are willing to do so.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What type of food should I bring?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bring a dish to share that represents your own diversity.\u00a0 This diversity could be related to your ethnic heritage or nationality, or it could represent your cultural heritage (such as foods that are regional specialties from your area, or foods\/recipes that are unique to your family, friends, church, or neighborhood).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Can I attend the event even if I don\u2019t bring food to share?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Yes! This is open to all library employees, including students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>How much food should I bring?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>That is up to you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Should I let DAC know if I\u2019m bringing food?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Yes, please contact Sheryl at cullinas@missouri.edu and provide the name or type of dish and the estimated number of people it will serve.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Do I need to do anything after I drop off my dish?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Yes. We ask that you take responsibility for setting up the dish prior to the lunch period.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Will I be able to heat up my dish before serving it?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Yes.\u00a0 There are plenty of outlets for slow cookers and a couple of microwave ovens.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Would it be okay for me to talk about my dish as people pass through the food line?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Absolutely. In fact, we encourage it for anyone so inclined.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Is this a legitimate diversity activity?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Yes. One goal of the Diversity Action Committee is to highlight the cultural diversity embodied by library employees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Does attendance during lunch count as release time?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No, since this is a volunteer luncheon versus a workshop or program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But what about the food prep time?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Yes, with supervisor approval.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If possible, bring your own plates and flatware for a green and diverse lunch.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When will it be held?
