Will there be any lost mail?\n<ul>\n<li>A.: Not expecting any.\u00a0 It is a rather routine migration. (Though large in scale.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Q. Are they doing backups?\n<ul>\n<li>A. Yes, there is routine and multiple copies being made. But if anyone thinks they lost something, let LTS know.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Assessment Committee Update &#8211; MaryEllen Sievert.\n<ul>\n<li>Two year project.\n<ul>\n<li>First year:\n<ul>\n<li>Planning and discussing.<\/li>\n<li> Took part in an MSA\/GPC survey.\n<ul>\n<li>Was able to add Library questions.<\/li>\n<li>Great turnout for their survey.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Second year will be developing:\n<ul>\n<li>Surveys<\/li>\n<li>Focus groups and\/or interviews<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Feedback Focus:\n<ul>\n<li>How does MU Libraries support research both on and off campus?\n<ul>\n<li>Bibliographic study \u2013 research grant bibliographies to see what resources are held my MU Libraries.<\/li>\n<li>Return of Investment (ROI) estimates.\n<ul>\n<li>Follow efforts of several other institutions that have pulled together such data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>How effectively do the collections, services and facilities of MU Libraries serve students on and off campus?\n<ul>\n<li>Will plan to use surveys and focus groups.<\/li>\n<li>Likely breakout undergraduates, graduates and faculty.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>How effectively do the collections, services, and facilities of MU Libraries serve faculty?\n<ul>\n<li>A collaboration possibility with Library Committee.\n<ul>\n<li>They share a charge from new MU Strategic Plan to develop assessment benchmark and tools.<\/li>\n<li>Will be working with a new study on eLearning and the libraries.<\/li>\n<li>Will be using surveys and focus groups.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Explore Association of Research Libraries (ARL) statistics and other data that the library has been gathering on usage.\n<ul>\n<li>In some way asking MUL collectors of data to change how they collect info.<\/li>\n<li>Adding new data to collect so the numbers can distinguish more finely the activities of the Library\n<ul>\n<li>Character of instruction as an example.<\/li>\n<li>Seek a uniform collecting of data through the organization and branches.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Questions\/Answers:\n<ul>\n<li>Q. \u00a0When was the MSA\/GPC survey conducted?\u00a0 Were the results ever shared (with MU Libraries employees)?\n<ul>\n<li>A. MSA\/GPC survey was done during finals week.\u00a0 Results came in over the summer.\u00a0 MaryEllen will check with Shannon Cary to see if results were shared and if they could be again.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li> Q. Are the MSA\/GPC questions asked every year?\n<ul>\n<li>A. \u00a0It was a one-time survey.<\/li>\n<li>Comment:\u00a0 Excellent turnout for their survey.\n<ul>\n<li>Student groups were entirely responsible for the survey<\/li>\n<li>Survey monkey format sent out by email.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Q. Alumni Association does an exit interview with graduates that have library questions.\u00a0 Any chance we can get to that data?\n<ul>\n<li>A. Assessment group will contact the Alumni Center.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Q. Concerning data comparison to five and ten years ago, how will you handle data for new services that have emerged within that amount of time (for which you won\u2019t have historical data)?\n<ul>\n<li>A. Part of goal is to look forward and set in motion the data to collect for future analysis.<\/li>\n<li>Focusing on questions such as:\n<ul>\n<li>What do we collect?<\/li>\n<li>How do we collect it?<\/li>\n<li>Do we need to make measurements of performance consistent?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Q. \u00a0Some departments only turns in small portion of stats collected.\u00a0 Will there be an effort to (or has the committee considered) requesting\u00a0 that information?\n<ul>\n<li> A. Assessment committee has kept\/will keep in mind<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Q . Has a ROI study been compared with other schools (peers) Big\u00a0 12 and such?\n<ul>\n<li>A. Not all schools publish ROI<\/li>\n<li>Q. Can Assessment Committee share data on institutions that do measure ROI.<\/li>\n<li>A. Not much.\u00a0 Not anticipating any.\u00a0 Most peer groups have been shifting from conference alliance for a while. (GWLA, Research I Peers, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Q. What will we do with data\/findings?\n<ul>\n<li>A.\u00a0 JC MU Strategic Plan asks for \u201cquantitative and qualitative measures\u201d: to make sure MU Libraries is living up to mission\n<ul>\n<li>Come up with Bench marks.<\/li>\n<li>Assess quality by periodic surveys.<\/li>\n<li>Q. When is two year mission done?\n<ul>\n<li>A. August 2012.\u00a0\u00a0 A lot will be done earlier.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Q. Will there be ongoing assessment?\n<ul>\n<li>A. yes, absolutely.\n<ul>\n<li>External (funding) pressures will always be there.<\/li>\n<li>MUL must stay proactive to keep control of process.\n<ul>\n<li>To have say in assessment.<\/li>\n<li>ME Sievert \u2013 there are cycles of how often to collect data.\n<ul>\n<li>Care must be taken to avoid survey fatigue.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Jim announcements:\n<ul>\n<li>Search for Development Director will be reopened.\u00a0 Two candidates came to campus. One withdrew. Libraries and MU Development Office will reopen the position in hopes of attracting a larger applicant pool.\u00a0 Goal: to fill early next year.<\/li>\n<li>Starting in December, five year budget review between MU divisions and Provost Office\n<ul>\n<li>Review past year, current and three years projected in to the future.<\/li>\n<li>Projections use University provided budget assumptions.<\/li>\n<li>MU Libraries meeting with the Provost is Dec 7.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>UPDATE: As of 11\/28\/11 \u2013 the MU Libraries budget meeting with the Provost has been rescheduled to January 25, 2012.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jim will report on budget discussion in the All-staff meeting.<\/li>\n<li>Meeting to follow-up on the fires in Ellis Library will take place in January.\n<ul>\n<li>Recovery will be completed and the rush of the end of the Fall Semester will be over.<\/li>\n<li>Will be an open meeting. Plans to invite various entities that responded\/helped with fire and restoration (Campus Facilities, Environmental Health and Safety, ServPro, etc. ) Would like to reflect on what could have been done better.\u00a0 What did we do right? And to say \u201cThanks\u201d.\u00a0 No date, yet.\u00a0 Looking at the first few weeks of January.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Other announcements;\n<ul>\n<li>Deb Ward: Annelise Freeman is on board as a part time E-Learning Librarian.<\/li>\n<li>June DeWeese:\n<ul>\n<li>Terry Brooks retires next week.\u00a0 Access Services will host a retirement Open House with snacks this Friday, November 18<sup>th<\/sup>.\n<ul>\n<li>Q. Will Access Services be allowed to replace?<\/li>\n<li>A.
