{"id":4142,"date":"2011-11-11T09:38:40","date_gmt":"2011-11-11T15:38:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mulibraries.missouri.edu\/newsnotes\/?p=4142"},"modified":"2011-11-11T09:38:40","modified_gmt":"2011-11-11T15:38:40","slug":"library-assembly-meeting-oct-25-2011","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/library.missouri.edu\/newsnotes\/2011\/11\/11\/library-assembly-meeting-oct-25-2011\/","title":{"rendered":"Library Assembly Meeting, Oct. 25, 2011"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Attending:\u00a0 June DeWeese, Matt Stottle, Deb Ward, Libby Myres, Stephen Clayton, Stephen Stanton, Ann Riley, Jack Batterson, Mark Ellis, PT Martin, Gary Cox, Karen Witt, Laura Buck, Jim Cogswell.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ellis Library Fire Update\u2013 Jim Cogswell:\n<ul>\n<li>Two or three follow-up meetings will be planned in November:\n<ul>\n<li>One will be to reflect and say thanks.\n<ul>\n<li>Will focus on what we learned from the experience.\n<ul>\n<li>Open to all MU Library employees.<\/li>\n<li>We will also invite MU and External groups who were involved in the fire\/water damage response\n<ul>\n<li>Campus Facilities, MUPD, Environmental Safety, SERVPRO, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li> Will also allow MU Libraries to say a final \u201cThanks\u201d to everyone who was involved with the clean-up and recovery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The other will be a facilitated meeting with J. Hunter and MU Employee Assistance Program(EAP).\n<ul>\n<li>Smaller meetings.\n<ul>\n<li>For anyone who would like to speak through their emotions and feelings of the event.<\/li>\n<li>Two or more sessions will be scheduled based on need.<\/li>\n<li>The dates of these meeting will depend partly on the EAP calendar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Retirement plan benefits changes \u2013 Jack Batterson\n<ul>\n<li>Jack passed out a summary sheet that illustrated the proposed changes to current retirement plan that is being discussed by the Board of Curators.\n<ul>\n<li>New plan combines a Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution design.\n<ul>\n<li>Current retirement plan is a Defined benefit plan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Plan affects anyone hired after Oct 1 2012.<\/li>\n<li>We can invite a representative from UM Benefits to have a Library info session if we feel we need it.\n<ul>\n<li>Since affect only new employees, some wonder if there will be a need.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>E-Learning Position \u2013 Deb Ward\n<ul>\n<li>MU Libraries has been working with Jim Spain, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies and Interim Vice Provost of eLearning, to create a halftime contract employee to work in E-Learning.\n<ul>\n<li>They have identified a successful candidate and hope to hire Annelise Freeman<\/li>\n<li>Will work broadly with Instruction, web committee, and others on all things e-learning.<\/li>\n<li>Position slated for 6 months as a trial.<\/li>\n<li>A&amp;S has partnered with library and Student Success Center to provide tutoring in Ellis Library for the past three years.\n<ul>\n<li>It has been a very successful collaboration relationship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Health screening and Flu shots to be offered at various places and dates around campus.\n<ul>\n<li>This takes the place of the big health fair that has been held previous years.\n<ul>\n<li>It is free.<\/li>\n<li>Bring Coventry insurance card.<\/li>\n<li>This year, there is also a $100 HSA incentive award for making a Cerner health account.\n<ul>\n<li>50 points questionnaire<\/li>\n<li>50 points health screening.<\/li>\n<li>Deadline: April 2012.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Coming to Ellis Library Nov 8 \u2013 Colonnade.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Director\u2019s Announcements:\n<ul>\n<li>8<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Ellis Library Homecoming Open House took place Oct 15<sup>th<\/sup>.\n<ul>\n<li>800+ visitors, Libraries provided Hotbox cookies.<\/li>\n<li>Archives put on a first rate exhibit as back drop.<\/li>\n<li>A lively event.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Development Director Search.\n<ul>\n<li>Two formal interviews with open presentation\/Q&amp;A Sessions\u00a0 for MUL employees to attend.<\/li>\n<li>Up to two more candidate visits possible.<\/li>\n<li>Evaluation forms out soon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>UPDATE: Concerning the Development Director search MU Libraries and the Development Office have decided to re-open and re-post the position in order to attract a broader pool of candidates.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provost\u2019s Budget Review Process starting\n<ul>\n<li>Provost office schedules meeting to review each University Division\u2019s budget.<\/li>\n<li>Reviews past year, current year and future budgets projected out three years.<\/li>\n<li>Jim will provide an update to the budget review at the All Staff Meeting in January.<\/li>\n<li>Jim\u2019s 360 Evaluation which was due to be initiated by the Provost\u2019s office in September, was put off due to the Ellis Library fire. It will be rescheduled in the near future.<\/li>\n<li>United Way campaign still going on. Pledge online.<\/li>\n<li>QUESTION: Gary C. \u2013 Has heard from Jim and Library a high figure related to damage estimates (over $500 K) but in a recent article on the State Historical Society,\u00a0 He read price of damage small (around $10K) figure.\u00a0 Was that only collections?\n<ul>\n<li>ANSWER: the $10,000 figure reported was for replacement cost of a collection of microfilm damaged by water. Still no final estimate of overall damage costs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Other Announcements:\n<ul>\n<li>Stephen Clayton on behalf of Journalism Library:\n<ul>\n<li>Retiring Journalism Professor Betty Winfield has donated 1,300 books to the Journalism library.\n<ul>\n<li>Currently being cataloged.<\/li>\n<li>Journalism is shifting collection to accommodate.<\/li>\n<li>A dedication will take place November 10th, at 2 pm.\n<ul>\n<li>Everyone is invited.<\/li>\n<li>A reception will take place 2:30-4 pm, 102 RJI<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Journalism Library is holding their annual film contest.\n<ul>\n<li>$100 cash award in three categories: Technology, Collections, and \u201cwhy I love the library\u201d: <a href=\"..\/..\/journalism\/contest\/\">http:\/\/mulibraries.missouri.edu\/journalism\/contest\/<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Submission deadline is November 18th.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Ann Riley on behalf of Technical Services \u2013Brian Cain, an internal candidate was hired as a Librarian Cataloger\n<ul>\n<li>One year\/ temporary appointment to save the Libraries time rather than going through an approval to fill and full search process.<\/li>\n<li>Cataloging plans to conduct a full nationwide search in twelve months<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Gary Cox on behalf of Archives \u2013 MU Athletics online streaming channel coming soon.\n<ul>\n<li>Archives material may be featured.\n<ul>\n<li>Athletics has contacted Archives for athletic reels.<\/li>\n<li>Ann Riley: \u00a0100 years of athletics is a popular hit on MOspace.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>PT Martin for LTS \u2013 Library Migration to Exchange 2010 \u2013 may start as soon as Nov 5.\n<ul>\n<li>There is not much information beyond that.<\/li>\n<li>Email storage space will expand.<\/li>\n<li>Potentially a way to set up Auto Archives to align with University Retention Policy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Future Library Assembly Agenda items &#8211; Visits by committee chairs:\u00a0 Gary Cox\n<ul>\n<li>Next committee to be invited to Library Assembly:\u00a0 Assessment committee.\n<ul>\n<li>Followed by: \u00a0Web Advisory Group, and then Collection Steering Committee.<\/li>\n<li>Gary plans to invite the new Development Director as soon as that person is hired.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Attending:\u00a0 June DeWeese, Matt Stottle, Deb Ward, Libby Myres, Stephen Clayton, Stephen Stanton, Ann Riley, Jack Batterson, Mark Ellis, PT Martin, Gary Cox, Karen Witt, Laura Buck, Jim Cogswell.
