{"id":3663,"date":"2011-07-22T10:47:05","date_gmt":"2011-07-22T16:47:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mulibraries.missouri.edu\/newsnotes\/?p=3663"},"modified":"2011-07-22T10:47:05","modified_gmt":"2011-07-22T16:47:05","slug":"top-250-websites-by-page-title-and-url","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/library.missouri.edu\/newsnotes\/2011\/07\/22\/top-250-websites-by-page-title-and-url\/","title":{"rendered":"Top 250 Websites by Page Title and URL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The top 250 websites<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>by Page Title<\/li>\n<li>by Page URL<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>are now available in an Excel workbook posted on the staff site for your viewing.\u00a0 The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/support\/analytics\/bin\/answer.py?answer=99118\">glossary<\/a> for the terms used in Google Analytics can also be found on the staff page on the lower right-hand corner of the screen under Administration\/Statistics.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"..\/..\/staff\/default.htm\">http:\/\/mulibraries.missouri.edu\/staff\/default.htm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Page URLs are case sensitive in Google Analytics so if a term in a URL is capitalized in one URL and not in its duplicate, there be two URLs listed for the same web page.<\/p>\n<p>For example:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Journalism Library:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the fall of 2010, the web browsers on the computers in Journalism were set to<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"..\/..\/Journalism\">http:\/\/mulibraries.missouri.edu\/<strong>J<\/strong>ournalism<\/a> as the home page.<\/p>\n<p>The Journalism Library home page is officially <a href=\"..\/..\/journalism\">http:\/\/mulibraries.missouri.edu\/<strong>j<\/strong>ournalism<\/a> with a lower case \u201cj.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Journalism will have two entries in the Page URL listing and one entry in the Page Title listing.\u00a0 The workstation browsers were modified so they now point to the lower case \u201cj\u201d but there will always be two URLS for that period in time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gateway page:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The stats for <a href=\"..\/..\/default.aspx\">http:\/\/mulibraries.missouri.edu\/default.aspx<\/a> are recorded separately from<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"..\/..\/\">http:\/\/mulibraries.missouri.edu\/<\/a> <strong>even though they refer to the same web page<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Test pages usually have not been assigned a Page Title and will be lumped together under <strong>(not set). <\/strong>Many new pages were created last year so there will be little or no comparison with the previous year.\u00a0 The introduction of LibGuides naturally saw a decrease in the page hits for some of those guides in the Resource Content Management System. \u00a0\u00a0LibGuide URLs are numeric so you cannot tell what the page is unless you search the site or add a prefix to the URL listed in the spreadsheet.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/libraryguides.missouri.edu\/\">https:\/\/libraryguides.missouri.edu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>LibGuide URL in Google Analytics:<\/p>\n<p>\/content.php?pid=92324 \/<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/libraryguides.missouri.edu\/content.php?pid=92324\">https:\/\/libraryguides.missouri.edu\/content.php?pid=92324<\/a> \/ [J2100 News ]\n<p>LibGuides also has its own statistical analysis program as part of the service.<\/p>\n<p>Last fall, the Web Advisory Group rearranged the content on the Gateway giving more prominence to the \u201cContact Us\u201d feature as well as other services and collections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cContact   Us\u201d went up 141%.<\/p>\n<table border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\" width=\"453\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"257\" valign=\"bottom\"><a href=\"..\/..\/showmehow\/contactus.aspx\">http:\/\/mulibraries.missouri.edu\/showmehow\/contactus.aspx<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>June 30, 2010 &#8211;
