All MU Libraries staff members are invited to a presentation by Richard Baker on the problems and techniques of conserving historic books and documents including items like the Lewis and Clark Journals.<\/p>\n
Richard C. Baker has been doing hand bookbinding and book and paper conservation for almost thirty years. <\/span>After serving in the Peace Corps in India he earned a master\u2019s degree in Art History from the University of Chicago in 1973. He then studied hand bookbinding and worked as a conservator for several institutions including the Newberry Library, Johns Hopkins University and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington. From 1982 to 1989 he served as chief conservator at the American Antiquarian Society.
