Notes are good temporary place to keep information until you have time to deal with it more permanently.<\/p>\n<p>Examples of when to use notes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Directions on how to do something<\/li>\n<li>a to-do list<\/li>\n<li>a software trick or tip<\/li>\n<li>Website URL<\/li>\n<li>Vendor information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Open a new note:<\/p>\n<p>1.\tTo access Outlook notes, open Microsoft Outlook.<\/p>\n<p>2.\tOn the left hand side of Outlook, click Notes or the shortcut icon .<\/p>\n<p>3.\tOn the File menu, point to New, and then click Note.<\/p>\n<p>4.\tImmediately type, or paste text, into note.  The first line is information that you will see as the note title.<\/p>\n<p>5.\tChanges are automatically saved as you type.  Unlike other Microsoft software, there is not a need to save before closing the Outlook note.<\/p>\n<p>Shortcut:<\/p>\n<p>1.\tCreate a new note from anywhere in Outlook by pressing  CTRL+SHIFT+N  (or just Ctrl + N)<\/p>\n<p>2.\tDouble-click anywhere in the Notes window to create a new note<\/p>\n<p>Categorize notes by color!<\/p>\n<p>A new note is yellow by default, but you are not limited to just this one color. You can assign your notes a customized color that aligns with your existing categories.<\/p>\n<p>1.\tRight click on the note icon to open the contextual menu.<\/p>\n<p>2.\tPlace the mouse pointer over the Categorize option to automatically open your categories in another contextual menu.<\/p>\n<p>3.\tLeft click on the category you wish to make the new or existing note. The note changes to the appropriate color.<\/p>\n<p>Notes are versatile:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tForward a note to someone by attaching the note to an e-mail message by right-clicking the note, and then clicking Forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tEasily print a note by right-clicking a note, and then click Print.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\tArrange notes as you\u2019d like by clicking and dragging them wherever you\u2019d like in the Notes window.<\/p>\n<p>This tip was provided by Jack Batterson and was sent out by Columbia College Technology Services.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Utilizing Outlook\u2019s sticky note feature, you may post notes to yourself electronically as you would on a paper sticky note.
