We do understand that publishing open access comes with a financial commitment that you wouldn&#8217;t necessarily have with traditional publishing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To help offset costs, Mizzou Libraries has agreements with several publishers to offer discounts and author processing charge support for the following journals.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Want to lean more?\u00a0<span class=\"normaltextrun\">Talk with your\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/library.missouri.edu\/subjectlibrarians\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\">Subject Specialist<\/span><\/a><span class=\"normaltextrun\">\u00a0about open access in your area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s-lib-box-title\"><strong>NEW AGREEMENT: Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC)<\/strong><br \/>\nThe MU Libraries now has a Read &amp; Publish agreement with the Royal Society of Chemistry, starting in 2024 and continuing through 2025. All charges for publishing in Hybrid, Gold and RSC Advances journals are covered for MU corresponding authors. Articles published open access in RSC journals are downloaded more often, which helps raise the visibility of your work Here is a complete <a href=\"https:\/\/pubs.rsc.org\/en\/journals\">RSC Journal list<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rsc.org\/journals-books-databases\/open-access-publishing\/read-and-publish\/\">Find out more.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"s-lib-box-title\"><strong>American Chemical Society (ACS) Journals<\/strong><br \/>\nThe American Chemical Society offers a discounted open access fee to MU affiliates since MU is a Subscribing Institution. Members of ACS receive an additional discount.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acsopenscience.org\/open-access\/pricing\/\">ACS Open Access Fee Chart<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"s-lib-box-title\"><strong>Astronomy &amp; Astrophysics: A European Journal<\/strong><br \/>\nStarting in 2022,\u00a0 the EDP Sciences journal Astronomy &amp; Astrophysics will be published under the Subscribe to Open (S20) model.\u00a0 MU affiliated corresponding authors can publish their articles Open Access without paying APC\u2019s (article processing charges) as long as the University of Missouri Libraries continue to subscribe to this title.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BMJ Case Reports<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Health Sciences Library subscription to BMJ Case Reports includes a waiver of the individual membership fee of \u00a3273 normally required to publish cases.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/libraryguides.missouri.edu\/ld.php?content_id=42240274\">Submission instructions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"s-lib-box-title\"><strong>Cambridge University Press Journals<\/strong><br \/>\nMU Libraries has entered into a transformational \u201cRead and Publish\u201d agreement with Cambridge University Press. This agreement greatly expands electronic access to Cambridge University Press journals and provides 10 APC waivers for MU corresponding authors to publish their work OA.<\/p>\n<div id=\"s-lg-box-collapse-26512999\">\n<div class=\"s-lib-box-content\">\n<div id=\"s-lg-content-61290095\" class=\" clearfix\">\n<p>Because of the limited number of waivers available with this agreement, MU Libraries has decided to support authors on a first come, first served basis. If there are remaining waivers at the end of the year, MU Libraries can retroactively make other articles OA with the approval of the author. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cambridge.org\/core\/services\/open-access-policies\/read-and-publish-agreements\/oa-agreement-university-of-missouri-columbia\">Read more about the agreement and see a list of eligible journals<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"s-lib-box-title\"><strong>Company of Biologists<\/strong><br \/>\nFrom 2023 through 2025 MU is participating in the Company of Biologist\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biologists.com\/library-hub\/read-publish\/\">Read &amp; Publish Open Access Initiative<\/a>. MU authors can publish OA at no charge. Some of the journals Company of Biologists publishes include\u00a0<em>Development, Journal of Cell Science<\/em>, and<em>\u00a0Journal of Experimental Biology<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"s-lib-box-title\"><strong>Electrochemical Society (ECS) Journals<\/strong><br \/>\nMU is a subscriber to ECS Plus, an agreement that allows MU faculty to publish their articles in Electrochemical Society (ECS) journals (<em>Journal of the Electrochemical Society<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>ECS Journal of Solid State Science and Technology<\/em>) as Open Access with no charge to the author. There are no limits on the number of papers that can be published in any given subscription year.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrochem.org\/publications\/oa\">Find out more.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"s-lib-box-title\"><strong>Journal of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Community Development<\/strong><br \/>\nThe University of Missouri has joined the shareholder consortium of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foodsystemsjournal.org\/index.php\/fsj\/Generalinfo\">Journal of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Community Development<\/a>. This open-access journal features interdisciplinary academic research and practice articles on all things food systems. The shareholder membership, good through April 2024, covers the University of Missouri-Columbia, including MU Extension. This membership\u00a0waives the typical Article Processing Charge\u00a0for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foodsystemsjournal.org\/index.php\/fsj\/Generalinfo\">publishing in this journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"s-lg-box-collapse-30712141\">\n<div class=\"s-lib-box-content\">\n<p class=\"s-lib-box-title\"><strong>Proceedings of the National Academies of Science of the United States of America (PNAS)<\/strong><br \/>\nMU researchers publishing articles in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) receive a discounted open access fee of $2,000, compared to the regular fee of $2,500, to make their papers immediately free online.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pnas.org\/page\/subscriptions\/open-access\">Find out more<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Publishing open access is a great way to keep research open and retain your copyright.
