Abstract
La Cáscara translates to shell, rind, or skin. One word carrying various identities. In this project, I explore the significance of our cáscaras-outer layers and how they connect to young Latina identities. I use the cultural significance of hair texture and color to explore the relationship between individual identity and the collective. Hair is a mode of self-expression and protection, connecting us to our roots while embodying the strength in unity.
