Tech Tips – Phishing

Phishing is a word that means sending an email to someone else and using a false identity known to be a legitimate business in order to scam the user into giving up private information.  The email will direct you to a website where it will ask you to update personal information such as passwords, credit cards, social security, and bank account numbers. Often these organizations already have this information, so it should raise suspicion as to why they are asking for it again. This website is falsely masquerading as a legitimate organization and cannot be trusted.

Ø  Livestrong.com has been recommended to us by several faculty and staff members, so we thought we’d share it. This website allows users to record their nutrition and exercise, read lots of healthy articles, and chat with an online community for support—all for free. For a fee, users can set goals and track their progress toward reaching those goals.

Research Opportunity

The Research Center for Human-Animal Interaction has launched its Veterans and Shelter Dogs Initiative, which consists of research programs directed at facilitating successful adoption of shelter dogs and helping combat veterans fight the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to re-ingrate into civilian life. This is a three-phase study with incentives. See the attached flyer for study details and how to become a participant.
